|
|
hi, have posted this on other site but still not sure if this is correct ?? thought that the switch was a 2 position one only ?? low or high beam ?
well i pushed it to the far right by mistake, and the light went out ? is this ok ?..or am i doing wrong ?.could this damage anything ? as sometimes it maybe or use to switch the scooter on, without lights on all the time..thanks in advance, martyn _________________ gts, 125cc, red. |

sounds like switch is faulty
lights should come on as soon as ignition is turned on and only option should be HI or LOW
lights off is not an option this is due to european directive 1223785693592335898237478236782365875572394723897239857489572392739523759875857874895748957487485745943098239586985687687 subsection B 129857757892374932759759573957239457239723957957025903450548arse _________________

it's not meant to do it, end of
obviously the switch is going past the point of contact and contact is being lost, i wouldn't persist in doing this as you may well end up with a broken switch
as for not needing the lights on i can't think of a situation when it would be useful unless of course you're in the SAS, is there something you're not telling us martyn
oh, and don't hang your coat over the headlight when it's on, the lens of the headlight will melt _________________

I've got that 3rd light position on my GTS.Have to press quite hard on the right of the switch, but it seems a proper thing as it leaves the pilot light in the headlamp on ,along with the running light and rear light. |

apparently there is a little tab that limits the movement of the rocker part of the switch, if that breaks off due to the switch being pressed too hard then it allows this to happen. _________________

If it was a light switch then surely all the lights would go out or at least the front and rear? That switch is only designed to go hi or lo beam, if it's switching your headlight off altogether then something sounds wrong with the switch to me.. _________________

Well I'm convinced mines a 3 position swich, otherwise whats the point in having the small pilot bulb in the headlamp. And you've already said lights have to be on so it's not an off swich.CT should know the awnser to this one. |

on mine the pilot bulb lights up when the engine is not running but the ignition is on (so i assume a safety device if the engines not running????) _________________ You will never get me riding one of them twisty and goee thingies |

Switch is only 2 position... dipped or main, theres no off or sidelight only option. |

I'll agree with that one, having been there and done it. Managed to blag a new headlight under warranty though ! There are different lighting regulations in different countries (Volvos with permanent running lights for example), and rather than make several wiring looms, manufacturers of cars and bikes tend to just use one loom with different switching. That's why it it seems daft to have a pilot light when you already had a headlight on. Why would you want to switch off your headlight though ? don't you WANT to be seen by other road users and thus avoid nasty accidents ? |

permanent lights on is a great idea, if we're all on the run i can look in my mirror count 8 headlights and know everyone took the right junction, ................oh and then search my mirrors for the P2 with no light on _________________
