Family camping in France.............

we plan to do it next year, driving over using ferry or tunnel, taking our own tent etc, just need some advice / pointers from folks who've done it.

Done it in Burgundy but its very rural and quiet there. I would say check out the campsites around lake Annecy and the town of Annecy. Its a stunning medieval town in the Alps. A good tip would be to take a look at a cheap motel chain called Formule1 or Etap ( have a look at their websites). You get a great room that sleeps 3 for about 30 quid. Annecy is around 500 miles from calais but nearly all of it is Motorway so can easily be done in one stint. PM me if you want more info.

Brittany for me ( not the singer !!) I've lived over there both in the South and the North and I can safely say Brittany has some of the best campsites I've ever used and leave British campsites way behind with the cleanliness, places to visit are Carnac, Benodet, Quimper, One camp site in particular is La Camping Point St Gilles which is spot on, best I've stayed on - see link
