|

How do we feel about these? I'm thinking more from a safety point of view - the missus nags me about being as visible as possible, but I don't want to wear one of them dayglo vests (I feel geeky enough using my scotchbrite armbands).
So, I was wondering about lights, but I've not seen many (any?) of you guys using extra lights, even for 'fashion'. I can see how they might be a bit too 'buy racer' if not used subtley, but are they considered w@nky in general or summink?
I've googled around and found lots of examples of folks using LED light clusters or strips - in fact I've found so much info, I'm bamboozled!
Anyone done any of this? I'm thinking, as I say, about safety so would like something that makes me more visible (even in daylight?) but not like I'm a twelve-year-old trying to be the Night Rider (not that a twelve-year-old would know who Night Rider was).
Maybe some weirdly phased clusters in the front grill and some white LEDs facing the road by the front wheels and red LEDs facing the road by the back wheel and a couple of blue strips on the sides?
Still need more visibility high up, but short of wrapping Christmas tree lights around my shoulders I'm unsure what to do there... Lights on the end of the handlebars?... _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

Well, white then
Any thoughts on what to do Mr T? Perhaps just buy a load of mini bicycle lights and pin them to my jacket? Hmm _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

In Scootering magazine I saw they tested some stick on Led strip for helmets which wasn't too over the top.
Remember that too much lighting can have a reverse effect, possibly confusing other road users.... |

Just had a look at those. Kinda extra brake lights. I'm not to worried about being rear-ended, more about side and people seeing me coming behind them. Thanks for the info though

True, but I'm less worried about confused folks and more about frickin' stupid folks that don't use their mirrors and/or necks _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

Automan with the car that could turn at right angles...
Seriously though for hi viz get a hi viz vest, you can throw it on for your commute, particularly like this time of year when travelling at dusky times... and quickly take it off if you see someone you know I use one at this time of year, but don't when away for the weekend etc.... _________________

Gotta say I agree with the HiViz argument - I'd rather look a geek and stay safe than lay in hospital wishing the car driver had seen me! |

i agree
go with the Hi Viz, lots cheaper than wiring all sorts of silly lights to your scooter and there's nothing gay about wanting to make it home to the mrs in one piece
actually i think the lights are more gay than the HI Viz _________________

Nothing wrong with Hi Viz jackets or Belts.
Silly lights all over a GTS just wont look right in my opinion. |

I use my GTS for work most of the time and use a HiViz vest, nothing geeky about it as nearly every 2 wheeled commuter I see has a hi-viz jacket/vest on especially this time of year.
I wear a camourflage jacket under my HiViz vest just to confuse the motorists though |
