i had to fit a polini clutch yesterday as i knackered my piaggio one now ive got a couple of questions 1st is there or should there be a shim behind the whole clutch assembly ie behind where the belt goes as i didnt see one come off but when fitted it was all rubbing on the casing the shop who fitted said there should be one
and secondly new genuine belt fitted standard varitor with new standard 14g rollers to me the bike is revving higher/louder that it was before when the standard clutch was fitted its lightning off the start but i struggled today to get it over 70mph but the rev limiter didnt kick in a quick llok at the rev counter is was on 7500 or there abouts and at 50mph its on 6000 revs do these figures seem right or has the clutch shim altered all the gearing
what are your thoughts?

ive took it on the motorway this afternoon and the rev limiter kicked in when i was only doing 80mph
now last year when i last took it on the motorway down to the iow i hit an indicated 90 before the rev limiter cut in, but back then i had a cuppini small flyscreen fitted,but because it broke i haven't got any fitted now a days,but to loose 10mph of the top speed seems a lot to me
i still think its got something to do with these shims/washers that were fitted behing the gearside pulley
can anybody help me or your thoughts please

Russ would be your best man for this hope he will pop up soon and give you some idea's....not done clutch yet so not sure i use the polini variator malossi belt and thats getting 95 on the optimistic speedo and i dont hit the rev limiter Confused
