Not so much tuning more good practice- what's the best way to run an engine in to give it a good life fror future use? I've done the 1000km at sober speeds but how should I put her through her paces now the first service has been carried out? Is there a 'good' way to treat the engine to get the best out of it until well and truly run in? |

i would say dont top 80% of the top speed, but open her up for short periods building up speed at a smooth pace and dont strain the engine uphill, after that just wring its neck!! _________________

It was what I was told to do by the dealer having bought new. The engine needs to loosen up for the first 1000km and cannot be tanked at full speed.
Having done this I was wondering if I was then able to open up the throttle or if there was any benefit to being gentle on the engine to get the most out of it in the long term?
People talk about not getting the best out of their GTS's until they have done 6k or more. I just wanted to know if this is true or just superstitious wishful thinking |

I should have put in a few smileys with that..my engine got ran in for 15minutes (long enough to get used to the scoot)
If you have ran yours in for 1K the it's about time to give it full chat, also they definatley do get faster as they loosen up. _________________

When running in, go as fast as you like, just don't labour the engine. Saying that, it will be well and truly run in by now... |
