After being made redundant and just managing to find a new job before Xmas I`m now looking for a scoot.
A fella up the road has a 18month old (55 reg) Dragon red GTS.It has every extra added like a colour coded top box, taller screen, front rack and extra chrome rails on the front mudgaurd and the rear panels. He has fitted extra lights on the front and small red ones on the rear rails so it`s a bit Modded up for my liking! It`s in good condition with only 2000 miles on the clock. The warranty runs out in January. He`s in his 60`s so it hasn`t been thrashed.
The seller is looking for a Motorbike of similar condition and price. He`s considering a Bandit.
I have an immaculate Fazer 1000 03 reg` with 17000 miles on the clock. The bike has a full service history.Included are Yamaha extras such as a rear hugger taller airflow screen, front mudgaurd extender and crash bungs. It also comes with a quick release Givi top box.
The bike`s taxed and tested untill June 2008 but it does need a new rear tyre.
The thing is, he want`s to do a straight swop and I want an extra £500.
he values the GTS at £2500 and I value the Fazer at £3000.
I don`t want to lose out on this scoot but I don`t want to give my bike away either as it was £8k when new!
I`d appreciate any advice on this one please.

sell the fazer for 3 grand and pay him £2500!

you can easily get a second hand gts for a reasonable price for that and add the accessories later, and have money left over.

In fact, I got mine from here for under 3 grand brand new last year: http://www.tacbikes.com/vespa-scooters.html

Admittedly it was partly cos they screwed up the colour, and they are not a proper scoot shop so dont expect proper scooterist service...but you'll get a brand new scoot for around 3 grand nevertheless[/code]

That e-bay outfit have been trading / advertising for about 6 months.
Although I can't figure out why they don't have any feedback.

Iv`e got it!!
Love it,real smooth and comfy. So much nicer in the flesh as well, curvy fresh lines....a real head turner. The tyres were under inflated and did not inspire confidence at first but it handles fine now.
Iv`e seen 140kph down hill already so I`m guessing that`s about 78-80mph?
Seems a bit sluggish off the line but there again the little engine has to shift it`s own weight plus my 15 stone 6`1" mass and I am used to riding a 1000cc bike Laughing
Can`t wait to get out and about in the new season and meet some more owners. There are two fellas local where I can get some tips anyway.
Xmas has come early yehaaaa! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
