|
|
Hi there.
I'm new on the forum, so please forgive me if this topic is old-fashioned...
The problem is that my brand new GTS's speedo/digital dashboard clear screen is fogging, I mean, tiny drops of water inside blurring the view on the speedo from the inside. I already tried to remove the droplets with a hair dryer, but that just a temporary solution. With the present cold and wet weather the problem persists.
Any simple solution suggested (apart from reclaiming under warranty, of course).
Thanks!

Hi, I had mine done under warranty. I tried like you have but it never clears and gets progressivly worse.
Get it done, they charge enough for them!!! _________________ Ride: Portofino Green GTV250 |

i read somewhere that you can pull the rubber buttons off carefully, de-fog with the hair dryer, carefully, then replace the rubber buttons......
but if it's under warrenty then go that way _________________

Last week my GTS underwent its first (1000 kilometers) service. The issue of the fogging dashboard was commented and the dealer immediately recognized the problem.
They disassembled the entire dashboard and then sealed it with kit (don't ask me where exactly...). Reportedly, this is the solution. The dealer added that, should the problem reoccur they'd look into another solution.
I must say, even after several trips in rain showers during the last days, the clear window is still dry! No fogging anymore! It seems that the problem has disappeared..
I'll keep you posted.

I took my dash apart to see about changing the speedo inlay and yes there is a rubber type o ring seal on the glass to the speedo it probably wasn't fitted propely or twisted.. My scoot is not even two months old and i'm finding things that are loose and not fitted properly !! good PDI they did on my one !! |

The serious fogging problem disappeared instantly after the modification (with the sealant kit), but depending on the outside temperature and humidity some very light fogging is still visible.
I can live with it, but as my dealer promissed he'll find for another solution should the problem persist. I'll keep you posted.

Sealing the dash is pointless as its not the cause.... the fogging isnt from water getting in... the moisture is caused by the difference in temperature from the outside air to the air trapped within the speedo.
The same effect as you get when you leave your nice warm house and get in the car on a cold day and all the windows steam up. |
