could be a bearing in the gearbox. bearing in the swingarm. the wheel bolts are lose

or the big nut that holds the swing arm disc and wheel on may be lose

I also get this knocking, when I turn the wheel back and forth. I am sure it is just due to slack between the teeth of the gears.

If you get any movement sideways, then that is serious, and the rear axle nut (behind the silencer) needs checking for tightness.

Sounds like the wheel support brace nut is loose... the big 24mm one.

it could be the bearing that supports the final drive shaft from the gearbox.

you'll need to drain and split the gearbox if that bearing's kaput.

try the nut first though.

hello could you please tell me if you got the knocking sorted.
ive had my gts for 11 months and has developed a knock( similar to hammer on scaffolding pole)
took it back to the dealer, in the back of a transit , the next day,
fired it up [b]no knocking, he kept it for a week, and nothing showed up,
i know when i get it back home itll start again .

so could any one give me any clues.
and im pretty damn sure i wasnt on drugs that day

cheers skip Sad

hello cheeky ,
i can only hear the knock when the revs are off,
ie when in slow moving traffic, it knocks every reverloution of the wheel,
running the scoot on a pm pipe so i can only guess that its knocking all the time, set the scoot on its centre stand ,turn the wheel by hand forwards it will knock, turn the wheel backwards nothing, checked the brake caliper and the disc all seem ok, no sideways play.
when the wheel is turned by hand the knock resinates through the wheel,

thanks for the swift reply skip berwick bulldogs sc Rolling Eyes
