|
|
OK so we can’t take all the credit, but I bet pressure from the internet forums and the scooter press must have had something to do with this. According to this months Scootering magazine there is finally an exhaust recall for the GTS here in the UK.
Here is the full text of the article:
After months of speculation and numerous reports of failing components, Piaggio have made the following announcement regarding the Vespa GTS.
“Piaggio LTD has instigated a product recall on certain Vespa GTS 250cc, Vespa GTV250cc and Vespa GT60 250cc models. In some cases, the exhaust system may release gasses with the potential to damage components adjacent to the muffler area. As a precaution all machines that may be affected are being recalled: owners are being contacted directly and advised to take their vehicles to their nearest dealer.
Piaggio authorised dealers are being instructed to fit a replacement exhaust system header pipe of an updated design which eliminates any risk of damage”
For more information about any of the Piaggio models or how to find your nearest Piaggio dealer, call freephone 00800 818 29800 or visit www.uk.piaggio.com
Thanks. And dont forget to get the header pipe replaced even if you have a PM or Scorpion fitted!!

If you have a effected model you will be getting a letter, and a modified downpipe with washer welded on to deflect the exhaust gas if the gasket fails...
But if ya wanna check yours... chassis numbers of effected models are below....
Vespa GTS250 ZAPM4510000001995 to ZAPM4510000019019
Vespa GT60 ZAPM4510200002197 to ZAPM4510200002483
Vespa GTV250 ZAPM4510200002771 to ZAPM4510200003015 |

As long as you never reuse the same gasket you shouldnt ever get the problem??
Even the new modified pipe still uses the same gasket, all theyve done is weld a washer round the pipe so if the gasket fails the gas leaking out is blocked from getting near the brake pipe, and its blown in a different direction. |

Doesnt matter if youve moved address as they send it to the address that DVLA holds for the vehicle V5... So aslong as you informed DVLA that you moved it will come your way! |
