After a few years out of the scene and only dipping back in for local rallys, I've convinced myself and my mate that we are ready for another European adventure - and i'm glad to see that things are as chaotic as ever!

On trying to follow the postings concerning trips abroad i've discovered there are many going on and that small dogs will eat turds on a stick.

The one that fits our calendar is the Beat Sugar Rally in France. Is anybody else going? Is there any advice you can offer concerning ferries etc?

Neil.

I'm making my annual pilgrimage across to Beatsugar again this year Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing Laughing

Depends where you want to travel from but I go Dover - Calais then it's about 110 miles from the ferry port by motorway but I prefer the scenic route which is about 130 miles. Laughing

Some guys I know travel Newhaven - Dieppe and it's only about 60 miles from the ferry on this route Rolling Eyes

It is a cracking Rally run by Piko and the boys, this year its running from thursday to sunday, cheap beer and good music and people from all over europe so makes for a great atmosphere Laughing

Look forward to seeing you there ..... you won't regret it Wink

Cheers Ian
We are travelling up from Devon, but as we're old hands at getting lost, loosing keys/tickets/pillions i wouldn't like to commit to the actual day of departure....there or back!

Any advice on discounts or expected costs for the ferry's etc?

Anybody else from the West Country making a break for it?

Your looking at around the £45 mark with P&O but sometimes when you call it can be a bit cheaper.

Getting lost is half the fun of it with Beatsugar rally.....1st time spent 3hrs driving around Amiens only to find we drove past the entrance twice !!! Embarassed Embarassed Laughing

For around £15 for the weekend it's spot on as they even make you breakfast in the morning.......can't see VFM doiing that Rolling Eyes The Do's go on till 5-6am so make sure you camp far away if your planning on getting any sleep Wink

Cheers for that!
To be honest 'Northern Soul' was never my thing, and there's only so much Ska I can handle. But everything in moderation is cool. I sold all my Motown & Two-Tone records to buy my first scoot over 20 years ago - can't say I ever looked back!
Time has come to relax and watch the world go by until I end totally intolerant, incompetent and incontinent!

Having said that: Always remember that Girls Aloud & Sugarbabes are for looking at - not listening to. Why else would your TV have a 'mute' button!

Anyone else up for this ?? I'm going on the lamby, it is a top rally similar to cobblestone style but bigger numbers and two rooms, and breakfast served every morning etc only 120 miles inland.

Just thought I'd write to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed the Beat Sugar rally Laughing The GTS went like a dream (Exeter to Newhaven {200 miles on the A roads} in 4 hours) uneventful trip on the ferry docking at 11pm. Then a 'scenic' hours drive to Amiens ... where things went a bit pear shaped Confused
Christ, I really should have gotten more/better/some directions to the rally site Embarassed After driving around Amiens all night (including a kip in a McD's car park) I had to phone my wife back at home and ask her to visit the web site for directions Embarassed Embarassed
Eventually arrived at the campsite at 10am Rolling Eyes
However fantastic site, really good weather/beer/people. Would recommend the rally to everyone.
Apologies to anyone we bored with our story - but thanks to everyone we met for making us feel welcome.

Good to know that after years of responsibility, we can still F**k it up like the old days Exclamation Wink Exclamation

Oh, and the GTS pured all the way home....... Laughing Laughing Laughing
