hi , used the gts for work today got about 6miles from work and it cut out and would not start for a while, got it going and it cut out again 3miles down the road finaly got it to work.
thought it could be the kill/run switch but it would turn over after it cut out so ruled this out, checked the ht cap and lead and seamed ok, left work and it cutout again after 300 yards and would not start , a mate in work stoped and we looked at all the usual stuff then he said to remove the petrol cap and it started and got me home and run ok
so are there any vent pipes or valves that could be bloked or jamed
thanks Andy |

1.switch if wet turn on/off and blow any access water or damp out
2. hard to see check HT lead has not pulled of coil as some leads have been cut to short by the blind man in the piaggio factory who works in imperial and not metric.
3.could need the ECU update,
4.?????????????????????

did the tank give off a "WHOOSH" when you opened it?????
might be a vapour lock caused by blocked vent to atmosphere.....
almost sound like i know what i'm talking about
not got a clue if the cap is vented or if some green euro compulsory system is employed to stop vespa fuel vapour giving all the aardvarks on some small hebridian archipeligo a slight rash for a few moments some time in the next 3 millenia _________________

As Ive put on previous post, no rhyme nor reason, doesnt show up on diagnostic, and they cant even simulate the cuting out problem, had new ecu and fuel injector, new kill switch, had its teeny brain re booted, seems ok now but only done 200mls ish since it was last sorted, did 3000mls before it started first time, its getting torched if it scares me again like last time, think its on its best behavior now! I would love Piaggio to openly say, Hah sussed the problem, its...... _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! A club wi owt a name sc. Bamberbridge. |

Has it had the ECU update from November?? As this was released as a cure to the cutting out, stalling or poor idling...
The most common effect of the old ECU program is high tickover... you would ride about, come to a stop at say a roundabout and the rpms would hang up high for a short while.
Ive also suffered a few stalling on shutting the throttle, but not many.
And ive only had one do the cutting out trick.. riding along about 50 and it was like i turned the key off... just engine off, no coughing spluttering... just dead. Wouldnt restart, didnt even try to fire. Had a look about, couldnt find anything, pressed the button and away it went like nothing was wrong... never did it again. Had no fault codes shown either... but since the ECU update its done 8000miles and never done it since. |
