|
|
Last night I think someone tried to steal my GTS. I came back to it and found the helmet, which I leave on top of the seat and d-locked to the chrome parcel shelf, was smashed up and the handle bars not aligned with the front wheel. I presume the helmet was smashed up either in an attempt to steal it or to get under the seat. I can only guess that they tried to get the wheel lock off, which is what happened to the held bars.
I am hoping that re-aligning the handle bars is a relatively simple job. Can anyone out there advice on how it is done (in sample terms!). I need to fork out for a new helmet (this one was only a couple of month old) so I really don’t want the expense of taking it in to the shop.
Cheers,

It all depends how much they are out of alignment... if only a little then its moved on the fitting, take off the upper cowling and youll see a large allen key with a 17mm nut on the back, slacken that and youll be able to move the bars side to side but only slightly as the bolt has a channel in the steering yoke...
... if the bars are a long way out then chances are they have bent the actual bars so will need replacing... make sure you check the steering lock for damage, last thing you need while riding is it jamming up. |

Thanks CT, just fixed it. Saved me a trip to the garage and half a day off work. Now just have to buy a new helmet.
