Got problems with mine now!!! Dont think it is same as the above but could do with some advice.
I have not used it for a few months but go and start it up and let it tick over every couple of weeks .....however today it started coughed and spluttered and conked out, tried several times and the only way to get it to run was to have throttle ¼ open and had to leave it like it until engine warmed up otherwise it would conk out! could this be just down to me leaving it for a while and battery low or something else? Even after letting it run for ½ hour on tick over when you switch it off t is still reluctant to go again, I'm now paranoid that it may be due to the fact I've been using the master key all the time as I've still not got around to getting another key cut so may be messing ECU about a bit......what do you think? I've also got an immobiliser fitted (key fob style) that was on the scoot when I got it ...how easy would it be to remove it and where is it likely to be fitted........sorry to sound so dumb but with all this modern technology I would not know what I'm looking for Embarassed

I’m totally with Blackpool Paul, dump the old petrol and give the plug a good clean then start her up and leave to tick over for a full ten minutes.

Keep the old petrol and bring it to Great Yarmouth cos we may need some help starting our BBQ!

If your aftermarket alarm system has been put on, then it can be taken off again. They are normally a black plastic box, and work by cutting a wire, and the 2 cut ends are then wired into the box. This may be done to 3 or 4 wires depending on the system. It won't be too hard to find on a scooter, then just join the original wires back together, as per their colour codes. As for your cutting out problem, change the fuel ( especially if you got it from a supermarket ), and give the scoot a good run, I'm sure it will be o/k then.

Fook, Sh**, Boll**ks..........Was supposed to pick it up tomorrow, started, went out fo a test drive and all ok, they went to do final checks when it cooled down and now it wont start again. The ecu light is coming on now but the relays are chattering like mad and no start.....oh dear. The original fault was the £amp fuse and holder under the seat the same as Siomons according to the mechanic but he has tested that, tried new relays and now thinks it could be a loom fault Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Looks like I might be B.U. Van man afterall Evil or Very Mad :evil

Ian you would be fookin amazed at the shite that gets pumped into your tank, I know my new Stainless tourismo tank on the Lammy was spotless inside cos I washed it out 3 times with clean filtered petrol, but when I checked the inline filter after running the bike for a few months it was nearly choked with what looks like bits of clear plastic n grit. Shocked

Well it looks like they may have got to the bottom of the problem finally. After faxing away a help to Piaggio and receiving some pointers they rang me today to say they found it. It turned out to be a high resistance in the loom (break) they have traced and replaced the wire and now all is fine.
Picking the scooter up in a few days so they will have plenty of time to test it, but when I pick it up I will have a good chat with the mechanic to find out what wire it was in case it happens to anyone else.

glad you seem to have found and rectified the fault phil Cool

if you could let us know what wire and where ("when you pick it up in a couple of days") that would be great and a help to anyone else on here with a similar problem in the future Idea

there were a batch of GTs's that came from the factory with the loom routed "over" a floor spar where the battery is rather than under the spar, this caused the loom to chaff and expose wires and ultimately fail requiring a new loom, think this was limited to a smallish number of scoots of the "55" plate variety.
