Well mine has gone now
But I Don't think this is as simple as a ht or plug. When I turn the ignition on there is no initial winding noise that you get. The lights, dash, indicators, horn and brake lights all work. I have stripped down the headset and glove box to check all the connections, i've checked the cutout swith and start switch and all are fine. Looked at the fuses and again all seem ok. I've tried the master key but still nothing. Any ideas?? _________________

This sounds really stupid Phil, but I had Cagiva Mito that had this problem. I smacked the starter motor with a screw driver whilst hitting the starter button. Hey presto, it worked!
This method also worked on my brother's Mini.
Starter motor is my bet.
If you need a second pair of hands or someone to stand around umming and ahhring, I'm off tomorrow and all weekend! _________________

Well a little more work but still no luck. Checked and replaced all the fuse, even the ones under the seat (Who knew there were some there). Ive got the two relays borrowed off Buddyphil to try in the morning but I am thinking it could be the imobiliser thingy. When i turn the key there is'nt the slight clunk that there used to be. _________________

Whats the led on the dash doing when the key is turned on?
Try unplugging and reconnecting the main ECU wiring connector as its a known problem area on the GTS... see if that helps.

This happened on my old et4, you put the brown key in, turn it to the on position, leave for 3 - 4 seconds, turn it off and take it out, then repeat the above using the blue key, then repeat using the brown key again, this should reprogramme your blue key (it is in the manual though if you want to check). |

It sounds to me that the main relay is not powering up. It should prime the pump for 2 seconds, then switch off if no RPM's are detected from the rev counter. This is a safety feature required by law, to switch off the pump if you crash the bike. Not sure where the relay is, as I haven't had cause to play with my GTS yet as it has only done 300 miles. Swapping the relays is worth a try if you have known good ones, otherwise you would need to check each individual wire is doing what it's supposed to. It's a time consuming job needing a multi-meter. Best left to someone who knows what their doing if you're not sure. |
