Lambda sensor would be a fault all the time, it wouldnt only appear once the engine was warm.... it could be a faulty ecu program and its overfueling once warm
Could be overcharging or under charging...
First thing i would do is clean the big connector on the fuel body for the module, just whip the seat tub out, undo the screw for the cable clamp and unplug it, give it a spray with some contact cleaner (WD40 if you have nothing better) then a little bit of grease to keep the water out and replug it in and see if it then goes out. |

Could be a fault on the coolant temperature sensor. This could be telling the E.C.U that the engine is running rich when warm. The only real way to diagnose this is by using the electronic diagnostic scan tool. By the way, it is not a good idea to put grease on any electrical connections. This can cause a poor contact of electrical connections. The only exception is a smear of copper grease on the battery terminals, but better to use vaseline. I am a car mechanic of many years standing, and the Vespa has similar technology to most cars, unfortunately, my scan tool is not suitable for a GTS as it has a different diagnostic socket. Good luck with your scoot, and post areply when it's sorted. |

As long as you use a suitable grease its fine... dont use wheel bearing grease or similar, ive got a tube of proper electrical grease for just the job |

Mav may need to do a sticky post for all to see looks like good advice to check wires around battery and look to cleaning and greasing all connections and points to avoid corrosion in the future seems to be a problem coming to light
thanks for update m8ty _________________ GTS OWNERS CLUB

Glad to hear its running, but it wouldve been nice to see what happened.
Cant have been the temp switch though, as it wouldnt put the ECU light on... as the only wire from the cooling switch that heads that way is the one for the dash reading, and its not an ECU measured device.
The wire for the ECU temp sensor is a short piece about 15cm long and heads backwards to the ECU on the throttle body... so doesnt go near the battery
Did they get any fault codes from the bike... the fact it was ok when cold, but happened when upto temp sounds more like a failure on the Lambda sensor side, as when cold it runs a different set up than when hot as its bypassed to start with while it gets a preheat charge shoved up it.
But whocares its fixed and lights off.... get out and enjoy it! |
