Just recently I've noticed more vibration coming from the handlebars. At about 30mph I took my hands off the bars for a few seconds and the headset was shaking very fast left to right. The scooter carried on in a straight line OK and balance felt ok but the extra vibration this causes is annoying and the ride doesn't feel as smooth anymore.
I recently had a new back tire fitted. Do you think the guy didn't weight the wheel properly or is there some front end problem?

check the balance on both wheels (yes an out of balance back wheel can give you the shakes) and if that doesn't solve things then check the headset bearings are correct tightness.

I'd bet it's the stearing column bearings need tightening, did mine and it's been perfect ever since. Balancing the wheels had a small effect but the cure was tighten the bearing collars

Mine wobbles like crazy. Was told by a mechanic that this is very common on the GTS and is made worse by cheap tyres (my front one is a Sava) and rear boxes (which I have).
This normal? Only done just under 4k miles so far... |

not normal at all - you been conned. go back to the shop and demand they fix it or take it to another piaggio dealer and get it sorted on warranty

are you having a laugh, my trad scoots are far more smoother than a gts! Ive never experienced such a bad wobble on a bike in all my life, and I dare not take my hands of the handlebars like i could with my trads!

| my gt200 was very shaky when i took my hands off the handlebars, went back to the shop 3 times and was told it was normal cause the front end was light?????????? got a gts now and everything ok |

This wasn't a matter of me taking the bike to a garage to diagnose the problem but rather me talking to a mechanic about how I'd just bought a gts. One of the first comments he said to me was "they have a real problem with handlebar wobble". At which point I told him that mine had the wobbles big time and he mentioned it was a problem with them especially when using cheaper tyres and having a top box....
Seems like there's lots of opinions on what the real problem is - inherant design fault or steering column bearings etc...
Will certainly get them to check such things once I take it for it's first (4th) service. |

GTs wobble.....
check tyre pressures.......
balance BOTH wheels........ rear wheel out of balance can give the handlebar wobbles too
bigger bar ends if using a top box......... (should come with the vespa box, 16oz i believe, still use mine without top box, rainham boy does some nice stainless ones)
check steering head bearings are tightened correctly.........
use pilot sport tyres........
