This is a repeat of a post in ModernVespa forum, so if you have read it there please ignore.
A couple of days ago I counted up the mods I have made to my GT200, and got to 24!
1. Engine.
Malossi CDI
Malossi camshaft
Polini 210cc cylinder
Iridium sparkplug
J.Costa variator
Mitsuboshi drive belt
Malossi clutch springs
Main jet upgraded to 98 (100 jet waiting in the wings)
PM62 silencer – painted black
2. Body
GTS front mudguard ornament
Front suspension cover painted black
Headlight visor (home made)
Vespa Club of Sydney badge on legshield
Audicator turn signal buzzer
Burglar alarm
Indicator warning lights replaced with LEDs
Eco-leather handgrips
Floor mat
Extra padding added to front of saddle
Helmet hook under nose of saddle
Later GT taillight fitted to replace ‘target’ taillight
Chopped off rack for when I don’t use the topbox
Reflective tape fitted behind the ‘reflectors’ on the topbox
Sydney City Scooter Club numberplate surround
That is 24 mods at present. But my scooter is an ongoing project, and I enjoy fiddling with it. Guess I am one of the few (if any) in Australia who have pulled a GT completely apart and re-assembled it.
The only problem is that it doesn't go! I am waitying for some parts from VespaSpares, currently in the post. My scooter has been out of action for 3 months, and I am suffering terrible withdrawal symptoms.

i wouldnt call the belt a mod as they make belts for piaggio anyway
i have to admit i would love to do that to mine. but heres the question you will rip me at. is it actually faster then a gts standard and was it really worth all that hassle
if you just love fiddling with things then its been the perfect project _________________

Hi Monty,
Yes, you are right about the belt.
I have been riding Vespas since 1959, and can pull a PX apart and put it together with my eyes closed. The GT was a totally new ball game for me, being a water-cooled four-stroke. But I now feel competent and tooled up enough to tackle any job on it. Just miss being able to do roadside repairs to get me home!
I don't expect my scoot to out-perform a GTS. Maybe hold one in acceleration up to 100kph or so. But if I had a GTS, that wouldn't be the end of the story. I would want a J.Costs variator, Leo Vince pipe, Audicator, alarm, some LEDs in the instrument panel, remove those side reflectors and fill the holes, do something about that hump in the saddle.
Anyway, I normally keep each scooter for about 10 years before upgrading to the new top model, and I've only had this one for four. So maybe there is a GTS500 in my future, but I will be 75 years old then.

Hey Monty, I also removed those side reflectors. So I still have 24 mods!
