| hi ive just brought some engine oil for my gts but its10w/40 instead of 5w/40 would using this damage the engine has its slightly thicker its made by agip tec sems syn cheers |

| Engine oils are a very complicated subject these days, and there are often several differences even within one specific type of oil. So even for example, a 5w40 can have several variations. So much so, that a vehicle manufacturer almost has a 'part number' for the required oil, as you would for any other spare part. Better to stick with what's recommended for the engine. |

it wont make no difference.
i used a huge bottle of 15/40 for 15,000 miles and it still aint blown up yet.

Personally stick with the proper stuff... ive seen plenty of damage from wrong oils used 
They recommend the oil for a reason. |

i thought you had it serviced every other week???

yeah, i got a mahoosive barrel of 10/40 castrol superbike stuff from where i used to work. it gets done every 2000 miles-ish.
i only service it mega often because its use alot more than all of you lot.
the average miliage for a car is 12,000. i did 22,000 on my scoot last year  . i've not racked up that much this year though, i changed jobs so the miliage halved. then i lost that job so i aint been commuting on it... 
now it's gonna be used for job interviews
