i have just recently purchased a 2007 GTS in march. Already have 2000+ miles on my bike and really love it. Had a ET4 for several years and although its a great bike the GTS is way more fun to ride. My question is how long does the belt and rollers last. My ET4 needed a belt and rollers at around 7000 miles. Is the GTS about the same???? Also how many miles do you get out of a set of rear pads. My et4 with the drum brakes and 16000 miles on it never had the rear shoes replaced. |

The only thing that you have to go to a dealer for is the exhaust. Russ has always been spot on with me but when it is out of warranty I dont think anyone with any reasonable mechanical aptitude should be scared of belt, rollers, oil, oil seal, brake pads. Afterall most of us have striped Vespas or Lammys before. There is nothing difficult just different and of course it's cheaper to DIY. _________________

Without the Digitec box at home you cant do a proper full service though How will you reset the ecu fault codes, reset throttle position sensor to zero etc etc?
Its always nice to have a friendly dealer locally who will let ya use the machine for 5 mins and do that side of a service too |

Its to account for wear and tear that develops.
The ECU can detect and record faults that occur, even if you dont know about them, so its always best to check them, might mean its only a £10 sensor change not a £150 rebuild.
If there was no need for it, it wouldnt be there... |
