Not really a problem as such, yet!
I've noticed the idle speed is a bit irregular and thought nothing of it until today when the scooter cut out twice 1st thing this morning not long after starting. Then coming home tonight giving it full throttle and doing about 85mph it felt like it wanted to cut out briefly, would the rev limiter do that?

Still don't know enough about this scooter yet to tackle much with confidence! Embarassed

is this a 250?

as for the irregular idle issue, i'd check the lamdba senser is tight and the wires connected, then i'd disconnect the battery for a few minutes, re-connect it then let the scooter idle for a good 10 mins.

Yeah it's a 250, i'll have a look at the sensor and the wires and do the battery disconnect tomorrow, reckon i can manage that much!

It's a 2005 model, luckily the previous owner wrote down instructions on how to switch from kms to miles, f to c.

It's standard apart from a PM tuning pipe which was already on the scooter.

Rev limter cutting in is guaranteed to put the shits up you the first few times it happens - must be Piaggio's way of replacing that "shit I've heat-siezed!" feeling on the P-range!!

Still makes my arse clamp tight if I'm not watching my speed on the motorway! Shocked

Yep classic symptoms, spark plug going off, Re place with a new one, or cap, ditto, or it may need its brain Re mapping like mine did, you will have to take it to a main dealers for that, which there supposed to do on a major service, is yours ready for servicing?

Could also need the ECU update if its a 2005 model... classic symptoms.

The scooter has done 15,000 miles. Last service was at 8,000 miles I think. Not had this one long so don't know if it's had any updates. I take it my local Piaggio dealer should be able to do this easy enough?

I did the ECU reset tonight and let the engine run for 10mins. Still sounds like every now and then it's not getting enough fuel.

Sounds like its about ready for a service with the mileage, and ask them to update the brain, which I believe main dealers should do anyway, mine kept cutting out altogether, only cured once it had its brain booted.

Will be booking it in for a service for sure. Scooter ran much better coming into work today, didn't back fire once!
