|
|
A couple of weeks back I sent the boring beige seat and top-box pad off my GTs away to be recovered by Saxon Handcrafted Seats, down in Dorset.
They came back today totally transformed and I'm well chuffed with the finished product...
The top of the seat, and front of the pad, is a black 'waffle' effect (really compliments the carbon muffler!) while the sides are a suede effect vinyl with bright yellow piping between the two.
They have also moved the hump back by five inches and flattened out the seat by adding slightly more padding to give a more comfortable ride.
And all for just £173 including p&p - bargain me thinks!
If anyone out there is thinking about getting their seat down give Saxon a try; their web address is www.saxonseats.co.uk |

I love the screen is it as effective as the gay looking mod screen?
Did you buy it of the shelf or is it an adapted Gilera Runner screen? |

Adapted Runner screen - pinched the idea from someone else on here, but can't remember who.
IMO, looks better than the standard screen and the scoot handles a lot better at high speed than it did with a standard screen. |

Top Tip: use the original screen to make a cardboard template then use a dremel to cut the runner screen - best to cut too little, often, than too much in one go! |

I covered the anticipted hole area with masking tape, drew round the hole in the vespa screen and chopped it out with a jigsaw {metal cutting blade} two attempts later, done, added 2 new mirrors from SP4U, Roberts your fathers. Cant see a thing out of the mirrors, but they keep the screen on. _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! A club wi owt a name sc. Bamberbridge. |

Haha - Rumbled!
Actually got the original idea from a yank company called Pirate Upholstery http://www.pirateupholstery.com/Seat%20Photos.htm and adapted it to my needs with the help of Adam at Saxon Seats. |

coincidentally i stumbled across that site last night - bizarre
I'm having a gt seat re-modelled by a mate to hopefully be similar to the cafe racer kind of style. The plan is for it to look similar to a vespa 90 solo style seat with the grey piping, but we both dont know how it will turn out - fingers crossed
A kind of a cross between these two
Hopefully it should turn out something better than my photoshop efforts!!

Where did you get the exhaust? Was the carbon end can you've got supplied direct from Scorpion? I checked their website & they were only offering a stainless system for the GTS. Really want a carbon end can for my 300.
Cheers

I actually ordered a stainless one through TASS down at Margate, but Roger hit the wrong key on his computer and managed to order the Carbon one instead - not that I'm complaining as it looks the mutts. |

Mike Oxweld's Photo Shop rendition looks like the seat that Pirate Upholstery made for me. I have a 28 inch inseam so the seat was made lower than stock by 2 inches. The seat is actually more comfortable than the stock seat.

I have a pirate made seat as well. I had him make me a dark green seat for my black GTS, like a cross between the GT seat and the GTS. less of a hump in the middle, but no strap. Gel inserts in the saddle part. It totally rocks. Easy to move around, but good comfort as well. I move around a lot in the twists. _________________ http://www.joelhamiltonrecording.com

Jay Teske, the owner of Pirate Upholstery is a great guy to do business with. Most of the correspondence with him is via email and he really takes care of the details. THE great thing about ordering a new seat from him is your never "seatless" he has a seat exchange deal, that is, you order your new seat from him and keep your old seat so you can keep riding, he sends out your new seat and you can either keep your old seat or send it back to Jay for reimbursement. And the turn-around is fast, 1 week for me!
I'm not sure what the exchange rate would be for you guys that aren't in the states, I know the dollar is waaay low now so you might want to give Jay a call http://www.pirateupholstery.com/ _________________ bobg
