|
|
hi all
a few questions regarding the Gt 125 - I got mine but the dealer has been sloppy and not included an owner's manual etc so I have been a bit clueless about a few things.
1. I got only one key with the bike - it is brown - does it somehow activate the imobiliser?I presume I should have received a second key also (the blue key?)
2. the fuel warning light is on but the petrol tank is half full - the dealer said this was a generic fault and not reparable? Is this nonsense?
3. the digital clock on the dash isn't working - the dealer claimed (sounds like rubbish to me) that there was no way of replacing the battery and therefore the clock could no longer work.
Otherwise the bike works fine I think - so far lol |

is it new?
even second hand you should've got a second key, as a dealer he could get one pretty easily.
And if he's giving you bullshit about the dash this early on (and it is bullshit), I'd first get the muppet to replace the dash, then avoid him like the plague for any servicing/spares you ever want to get in the future _________________

1 ) There is a quite a lengthy thread on this topic on here somewhere. Basically, you have the master (brown) key, and should not be using this. When you put this in the ignition, it puts the ECU into progamming mode and it thinks you're trying to programme another key. Go to your local locksmith and get him to cut another key ( with a transponder chip in it) but DO NOT LET HIM PROGRAMME IT. This is very important, as he will 'clone' your master key. Start the bike with your master key, then very quickly switch off and start it again with your new key. This should now be programmed.
2) The clock is driven by the scooter's battery, and does not have it's own power supply. The dealer is talking b*ll*x. The scooter battery is in the centre of the footboards under a cover.
3) Either the float in the fuel tank is faulty, or the guage is. Coupled with the fault on the clock, I'd say your dash is faulty. Get the dealer to rectify faults, then avoid him like the plague.
Finally, if what you say about the dealer is factual, then you should name him on here so others can avoid him. |

When I bought my GT200 second hand it had only one key and no manual, by the time I sold it I had sorted out the new key and a manual. Thing is I bought privately and paid bottom dollar, if I was buying from a dealer and paying top dealer dollar I would not expect to have to sort these problems out you have mentioned. There is instructions in the manual on programming a new key although to be honest I still could not manage to do it. It's like doing a key hokey cokey I kid you not, you put your brown key in, take it out, you put your blue key in take it out, repeat, etc, etc. I asked my Piaggio dealer in the end to do it and he popped outside and did it in seconds no charge. Sound like this dealer has been very lazy when preparing this bike for sale, all of the problems could be sorted but he has not bothered. _________________ www.stanfordparkas.piczo.com |

thanks to everyone who posted here. The dealer is not going to get away with his, so far appalling conduct. I not going to name and shame him yet. He will be given an opportunity to remedy the defects. I am a lawyer and if he does not do this promptly I will take him to court and name and shame him properly. I will tell anyone who wants to know his details offlist. Suffice to say he is a dealer in Dublin, Ireland. |

well I have been messed about by these morons for long enough - I will have time in August to pursue a court case against these guys. Should be fun. I ordered the owner's manual from the main dealer (he had it within 3 days for me) and now know the following
a. there is a separate clock battery which lasts ca 2 years - to replace just raise the instrument panel - I don't know how it is done but neither does my dealer apparently.
b. now I know how the machine works - and what should come with it - no wonder he didn't supply the manual as no black key or code card. Both of which are important to have.
c. his solution to the fuel warning light coming on when slightly under half full was to fill the tank and tell me that it switched off. Good grief.
Thanks for the help and advice

Gt models have a replaceable battery, the Gts is part of the LCD dash and therefore all in one unit.
Not all models have a keycard, some just have a code on a tag with the keys, but you don't really need it, its more to help the key cutters. You do need a master key though. |
