I recently had to change the Keihin CVK carb to a Walbro which I had spare..it's about the same but it got me thinking. Will a Keihin 34mm CVK from a Kawasaki Z1000 go on OK? I know it fits the hoses but there are loads of tubes which were used to regulate things between the bank of 4, can I just blank them off?
....I am gonna do it anyways just to see, yeehah! But if anyone has an idea about which tubes to block that would be appreciated. (I think one will take a NOS feed straight in). Cheers. |

if it fits the manifold then i should be ok as for the other feeds haven't a clue what did they regulate?
also jetting will be way out so that will need sorting out as well.
why not get a malossi carb kit that comes with a 34mm dellorto phf carb in it? _________________ POGUE MAHONE SC

I think the tubes are for a vacuum operated choke?? Deffo no electrical or mechanical choke on these babies. Something weird anyways!
I am pretty sure I will be able to jet it OK, I have many sizes anyway and as usual will just start off very rich and slowly notch down.
I would get a Malossi but these were free and I still think I'll get the same performance or better without having to cut a big hole in the under seat storage! |

Well I spent hours tinkering with carb, managed to get it running really smoothly and some good power too, I might be a bit anal but I like things just right. Gave it full blast for the 20mile commute to work....blown exhaust!! LMAO. Needed a new one anyways. |

i know the malossi carbs are expensive how ever they do give a good increase in power when set up right
glad you carb running ok any diffrence on top speed or acceleration? _________________ POGUE MAHONE SC

The 125 clock only goes up to 80 and it's quite easy to max that out. I suppose it might just be doing about 80mph in the real world. Acceleration is fair, I suppose it is good but I want a bit more!! I don't think it will give any more on the standard 200 carb so once I replace exhaust with one of them LV jobs I'll deffo be having a test day with a 34mm. |

If its acceleration your after then a bigger carb is doing the opposite... a bigger carb will give less acceleration but better topend when flow rate is important.
When you fit bigger carbs theres a point where you loose torque from the engine as the air velocity slows down and therefore so does its dynamic pressure, which inturn reduces the amount of fuel drawn into the engine.
The smaller the carb the more acceleration and low end power you will have, upto the point the engine is revving hard enough that the carb venturi becomes a restriction and the engine struggles for air... bigger carbs give better topend fueling by allowing more air to flow through them without restriction, but at the expense of a reduction of torque due to low intake pressure and poor fuel atomisation...
Bigger carb kits like the malossi one are aimed more at the racing side of things were topend power is the aim as when racing the throttle will only be closed for brief moments. |

Thanks for the info, maybe I'll have to fit a blower!
