I had adaptor snap off when I was changing mine.
If you have an indent in the snapped off part good if not hopefully you can use a punch. Then I invested in good quality drill bits (don't use pound shop kit or they'll prob snap off as well!)and used a drill with differing speeds, starting slowly with very small drill bit and gently increasing drill bit sizes until I was happy. Then I just reversed drill and gently wiggled about. This was enougth to loosen and it then simply unscrewed. |

Yes, start with a small drill then go bigger and bigger. If you can't get the broken remains of the stud out, it can be drilled out and heli-coiled easily enough by someone who knows how to use a heli-coil kit. |

This happened on my brothers, by me i hasten to add. A mate of our used a tapping kit to get it out, took about two minutes. |
