I've just fitted a new (second hand engine) from W.J Furber breaker's who assured me the engine was running before removal.
Problem is when i turn key i get oil warning light staying on,
is there something you need to do when changing engine's?it seem's like electrical prob to me.
anyone had same trouble?i've just about give up it with it
engine was £300 +vat+delivery by the way

oil warning light will stay on when you turn the ignition on, stays on after all other lights go out.

oil light should go out when the engine is started, providing it has enough oil that is.....

Oil light should go off once engine is running, normally after about 3 seconds as its a oil pressure light, not oil level light. So it needs the engine running, to drive the oil pump, which pumps the oil and provides the pressure!

If the light stays on even when its running, make sure you've connected the wire on the oil pressure switch as its easily forgotten.

Could be immobilizer.
The engines immobilizer is not coded to your key.
A mate of mine put a used engine in a citroen van, he had to use the diesel pump which came from the van because of the same problem. Sad

When i turn ignition on everything lights up as normal, led flashes once then 3 short flashes, then stay's on which according to the troubleshooter guide on this forum mean's the transponder is not recognised. I've tried to reprogram with original key's but not working-do you think i need to re-use something off my old engine?

Thats good news then... a lot of people dont realise the main ECU is built onto the throttlebody on the quasar engine, and is coded into the immobilizer so wont start if you try another one on it.
