Hi.Have any other club members had condensation under the plastic cover of the instrument housing? I purchased my GTS in March and I have not had this problem until now. I got it out of the shed and it was stood in the sunshine for about 5mins. I noticed it had condensation inside.I went for a 30 min. ride and when I returned the condensation had gone.I know it is not a serious problem, but can anyone help? thanks JOHNONE |

doesn't sound too much of a problem, obviously being put away wet in a shed doesn't help but if you have no option what can you do???
some folks have carefully removed the rubber buttons on the dash, let it dry out nicely then carefully replaced them.
can remember reading somewhere about taping a sachet of silica gel to the back of the speedo unit. _________________

Hi. Following my request for help regarding condensation in the speedo,I have been informed that the only remedy for this problem is a new instument unit.I seems that this unit has a seal inside to prevent this problem and the seal on my unit must have failed.I will contact the dealer and see if Piaggio will replace this under warranty. If any members have any other infomation please let me know. Thanks to the members who hane replied so far. JOHNONE |

Correct me if I'm wrong but the condesation you're on about is caused by the change in temperature of the air inside the speedo rather than the seal letting in moisture.
Mine does it all the time when I take the bike out of the garage into sunshine,by the time I remember to check it it's gone anyway.I think you'll find that if the seal has gone it would be permenantly cloudy. _________________ Darren |

There is a comprehensive thread on this topic somewhere on this forum. Mine mists up as well. it's quite common, and is a result of changes in temperature inside the speedo, compared to the outside temperature. It's annoying because it leaves water stains on the inside face of the 'glass'. |

I had a word with the local Piaggio dealer who says he has not heard of this problem. He seems to think that if the speedo cover had a very small hole put into it next to the rubber buttons, this would allow the moist air to find a way out. JOHNONE |

Wont that let water in as well? Who is your main agent? in Preston? if it is they know about condensation cos Ive told em about mine! if its bothering you remove the rubber grommits and let it dry in the sun, then replace them _________________ GTS250 its the future!!! Drill a hole in the speedo face ? Is your dealer crazy ??. Perhaps he will get you a new one when the water it lets in short circuits your speedo's printed circuit board and frazzles the whole unit. |

I called into Jessops Photo shop in Blackpool, and got a blister pack containing 2 packets of silica gel (2.49).At night I have put one of these under the headlamp in the gap on top of the legshields, dont push it right in, it may vanish. If the bag start to feel damp just put it on a radiator to dry.I have used one of these packets every night this week and so far no condensation. I think I may have solved my problem, thanks for the helpfull comments. JOHNONE |
