I fancy taking my indicator tinting a little darker, so I was thinking I'd better install brighter bulbs as someone had suggested on another thread.

Anyone have any ideas on what would be a suitable upgrade, or indeed what bulbs are in there now???

Without looking, the orange bulbs are GENERALLY 12 volt, 21 watt. Orange bulbs have a different locating pin configuration than ordinary clear bulbs. If you look at the clear bulb from the base, you will see that the pins are exactly in the centre line of the bulb on either side, whereas the orange ones are offset to one side. 21 watt is normally the highest rate that you can get for this type of bulb. Any higher wattage, you then go to twin contact configuration. You could try your local branch of LSUK ( Lucas's ), and have a look through their bulb catalogue.

The rear bulbs are 12v 10w. The ones on my GTS are clear, and there is an orange screen built in to the indicator unit to provide the colour.

There are certainly more powerful bulbs available, but you had better make sure the glass bulb will fit in the hole provided.

The front bulbs are the small wedge type, coloured orange. I presume they are 5w, and am about to make enquiries about more powerful ones, for the same reason - I want to tint my indicators.

NB. the bulbs might be different on diferent models GTSs. So don't take anyone's word as gospel, check them out yourself.

Mike

Just watch what you fit as there isnt a indicator relay on the bikes, the indicator switch gets its power feed via a blue/black wire from the ECU...

...so overload it and run the chance of frying a very expensive electronic box Wink
