I know this has been kinda touched on before, but I've got a wee problem with this. I took the swing-arm thingy off for powdercoating, removed the bearing of course. Now got the swingarm back (lovely shiny black) but the bearing wont go in, even been in the freezer for 2 days.
I've got it in as far as sitting flush with the outside of the swingarm, but not nesting all the way in the cradle. Question is, can I simply move the spacer to the back of the bearing (i.e. inside against the wheel spacer). This way, I still get the bearing to support, and the nut will fully tighten, and let me put in the split pin??

OR, should I just get a new bearing and fit carefully??

Do you mean the ali casting that the silencer fixes to? If so can the powder coating be removed where the bearing sits? ie with emery paper?

No don't fit the wheel spacer on the inside, its on the outside for a reason! Make sure theres no powder coat where the bearing should fit, and warm the bracket up as well as cooling the bearing to make it as loose a fit as possible. If not take to a engineers and they will press it in within minutes.

Cheeky, I'll need to knock out the bearing again, probably killing it. How much for a new one?? I can then freeze the bearing and heat the swing arm to fit.

I wasn't stupid enough to let the powdercoaters coat the cradle...

Finally got another bearing fitted. I had to freeze the bearing, heat the swingarm, sandpaper the cradle, and still thump it with a hammer, finally using the old bearing to force it home. What a pain in the arse. I can now rebuild...
