Has anyone used an alternative, non submersible fuel pump on their GTS.
Why.
My GTS engine has gone in a Runner VXR, I just need to find a low pressure (2.5 bar) injection fuel pump to complete the install. |

Dont forget youll need a higher pressure pump than 2.5bar... the fuel line on the GTS is 2.5bar not the pump... the pump will be higher and regulated to 2.5 by the fuel pressure regulator so the system sustains a constant 2.5bar despite engine loading... any excess pressure over the 2.5bar gets dumped back into the fuel tank.
It might work out easier to get a GTS fuel pump, and get the tank either modified to take it, or get a custom tank made. |

As cheeky says, find a pump with a higher rating then you can use an adjustable fuel regulator,we use em` on our tuned Vespas but could be used on any application using a pump, try Merlin motorsport, thats where we get ours about £26. _________________

Airmech, Cheeky Thank you
I do have the GTS fuel pump assembly but as the runner tank is inclined & therfore has a bit of a head, plus the pump has almost no flange, I am not confident I can devise an internal, external flange detail that will maintain integrity.
I have considered having a tank made but it is such an unusual shape I would loose too much fuel volume. I have also looked at a secondary tank to house the pump assembly but it is so large I can't find space in the bodywork to house it.
Thanks for the Merlin contact. I will talk to them tomorrow about a pump, regulator set up. I guess if I size the pump to deal with peak demand I won't need the 2 pipe system employed on the GTS? That just leaves the control circuit to deal with.
When Iv'e finished this I will post a kit list on the GTS & runner web sites.
Thanks again for your thoughts. |
