Right, the dealer exhanged my Scorpion Carbon end-can for a nice shiny stainless one which has been fitted - I did the disconnect battery, reconnect run for fifteen minutes routine - and used for about a week now.
I am now getting a strange 'phut phut phut' sound coming from the exhaust - far different to the old end-can sound - and it only happens once the scoot has done a few miles and warmed up. Also, when I throttle down I don't get the usual 'back-fire' sound but rather the bike sounds as thought its clogging up!
At first I thought it was exhaust gases escaping from the slip joint between the can and down pipe but this appears to be air-tight (as far as I can tell).
Next I checked the down pipe for cracks but this looks ok and, like I said, the exhaust didn't make any strange noises before changing the cans.
I can't see any obvious defects in the exhaust system, so my question is does anyone have a clue where this wierd sound could be coming from? Have any other scorpion users experienced this?
Yours
