|
|
Next summer, after me and the wife get back from Germany on the GTV, Im seriously thinking of getting something bigger. We want to do lots of touring and fast!
Im a bit torn between scoots at the moment, really dont want a Jap one even though I do like the majesty and even the silverwing a little
However, I do love both the Fuoco and the GP800, but is it wise spending all that cash on something so complex from Italy?
Basically, we want to be able to carry stuff (dont mind topbox) and be able to cruise at 80mph on autobahns etc. Any ideas... please? |

Welcome to the world of the Maxi scooter
It's a tough choice. Anything 500cc & over will be fine for fast touring.
A few of us have Nexus's (or is that Nexii) which are excellent.
Jap scoots have great build quality & reliability.
Italian ones have style & so far reliable, with good build quality.
As for storage space, a top box & set of throw over panniers does the job.
Best bet is to go & have test rides on all the ones that you are interested in & take it from there. _________________

Hi Barry, one of the guys in Salisbury has got a GTS 300 fitted with a PM tuning pipe and PM power commander unit. The mechanics at the dealership reckon it goes better than a T Max. 100 mph allegedly. |

Any more details ?
The silverwing for two up and storage space takes some beating but if it was still in production I would go for the X9 as it had the lot _________________ Vespa 300 super BSA Bantam, pushbike |

T-Max is the way forward, the 2008 model is fantastic and will never be beaten by a GTS 300! _________________ I love hairdryers...

I think if youre thinking of a GP800 get a decent 2nd hand Pan European instead... _________________

The Tmax has to be the one.
Your best bet though would be to check out a forum for Maxi Owners like Maxi Muppets. Theres a few Nexus horror stories I've heard over there, TMax or Burger-van is what they recommended 2 me when I was considering the Dark-Darkside, although I've saw an XEvo in my local dealers and that looks nice too 400cc though. _________________

Cheers for the help, I did used to ride bikes but since having the GTV Ive kinda loved the auto bit
Some do seem a bit pricey, like for the same cash as a Silverwing you can get a 700cc Honda Deauville with fitted panniers and its a reasonable bike too.
I think tbh, the GP800 will prove horrendously expensive to maintain... maybe Im wrong? The X Evo is OK, and I know my dealer would do a good deal and I do like the dealer too... think Ill have a look at Maxi Muppets, cheers. |

GP800 is ideal for touring... big comfy, far more grunt than a tmax making riding one effortless... but they are a little bit thirsty on fuel, nothing too bad, but i expected it to be better being a scooter, but a lot is down to how you ride it... and its hard not to start playing with the throttle especially when theres quick cars and bikes beside you at the traffic lights |

Nah, so far I do like the Burger but hear its very pricey to service. I want a Fuoco, but Im a little scared of the technology and wary of reliability and quality. |
