Seeing as it's January I thought I would look at tent prices...
Coo! Half price Phact X2!
http://www.tentastic.co.uk/acatalog/info_203342.html
This is usually more expensive than the Phad X2, so should be good?
Good price on Phact X3 too.
Mav? What do you think? I know you have the Phad down as your favourite. Also - what about the size of a 3 man? Is it a case of "you might as well"? As much from a worry of finding space at a campsite as of fitting it on the scoot. _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

phact is a tad heavier that the phad but not by much, it's the same coleman build quality etc
whether you go for a 2 or 2 man version is up to you, 3 isn't really that much bigger than a 2 and not much heavier either
1 person 2 man is good, 3 man is luxury
2 people 3 man is essential
3 people get a hotel room and a video camera, you're in the wrong game
the thing that makes the phad score over the phact is that the phact relies on guy ropes which can be a "trip, my tent is ripped" factor when there are as many pissed people about as there are at the events we attend
having said that, think back, how many tents have you seen ripped at rallys in this way.....? _________________

Well, perhaps with guy ropes the Phact can stand more extreme weather, but who needs that eh? I'd rather not struggle with em if I don't need em.
Looks like I'm plus one on the list waiting to get a Phad X3 then
Now I just need to source a good sleeping bag.
I need roomy (hate being onstricted in bed - no furry handcuffs!) and not too hot (I'm hot stuff in bed as it is). Any ideas? _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

the phad has guy too, you just don't HAVE to use them
as for sleeping bag, go for a square one rather than a mummy as for warmth, i'd still go for a 3 season bag rather than a 2 season bag, you can always unzip it to cool off (or just stop wanking ) _________________

Decided upon the Phad rather than the Phact. The Phact has front and rear doors, but neither have any cover for the porch/storage area. The Phad you could actually sit/change/w@nk in the porch and not get wet. In fact, looking at other makes of tent as well, pretty much only the Phad has a front porch/door that doesn't leave the porch or whole tent open to the rain. You'd have thought a sheltered entrance would be an obvious feature needed for all tents *shrug* _________________ Do two and 1/4 rallies mean I'm not a scoot noob anymore? |

The thing that sells the phad 2 me, is if you've ridden in the rain all day and then need to pitch your tent I want somewhere to store my wet gear, it's something my vango beta gives me, just looking for the same from the coleman, but more water proof _________________

Don't forget about the excellent Quechua range of tents from Decathlon. The T4 ultralight pro is closest to the Phad X3 in size & price (£119.95) _________________

Just a thought, I use a Carp fishing Bivvy, there designed for use weeks at a time, its 9yrs old now, never used it for fishing, bought it cheap about this time of year, could be worth a look at Fishing equipment? I will check things out but Im shit at transferring addresses and things from one site to another, I have to get the kids to reset the Telly etc! _________________ GTS250 its the future!!!
