Hello All,
It's been a while since I've given any news, so here's a quick update on the latest over here.
This weekend was the seasons first rally in Bordeaux (I know its ridiculous rallies all year round now ), anyway we've been having dismal weather here (same as you lot), most of the week temperatures being in the "minuses".
Saturday came around and the weather picked up a bit so I decided to ride up on the GTS from Toulouse (distance about 160 miles). I wrapped up in about 6 layers after being totally sure there was no ice on the roads.
The bike performed great doing a steady 120 Km/h all the way (I'd 1500 kms on the clock by then), I tried it flat out and was disapointed to only get 135 Km/h (about 83 mph) and only at great pains.... It seems that the 130 Km/h mark is where its top speed is, hopefully it might improve, but my mate's bike is already doing 140 km/h... but he's 2 stone lighter !!
Anyway we met with the rally ride out at one of the stops and.....
We got the massive "cold shoulder" treatment, OK it wasn't that bad but it was obvious we had upset a few people. (Remember this is a micro-scene over here with a big rally attracting in the region of 250 scooters).
So after the initial shock some of the lads asked a few questions and seemed interested and others took the piss a bit (which I really don't mind, its the "those bikes don't belong here" attitude that gets me going).
But one punter's comment I thought I'd share with you : "well I'd prefer to see more GTS' on rallies than more vans"
So looks like its going to be a long road but there is hope!!
... don't let it put you off coming over here with a GTS though 'cause they think Brits are all wacky anyway
The ride back was pure hell with 100 miles of freezing fog, forced to ride with the visor open, cause the humidity from the fog was freezing on it, and praying there was no Ice on the road. But I got home OK and first thing I did was wash the bike to get the salt and road grit off it, now is that dedication or what??
Ride safe,
Mick |

Cheers Mav, safety in numbers and all that, we'll park the GTS' up in a circle and camp inside
I'll pass on any interesting rally dates once they've been officialised.

Don't care Johnny, next time we'll be one more, i don't expect to have influenza twice this winter...Fancy going to Modrapheniacs? Brett Francis already booked an 8 caravan and he seems to be automatic open minded as long as i discussed with him yesterday evening at Oasis concert. Dorset is part of Darkside official dates for long now. My job allows me to go there and wife to go away alone too Contact Brett now you have is phone number, he will be happy to ear you. _________________ http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/el%2Bhombre%2Bnuclear/video/x75va7_el-hombre-nuclear-intro_shortfilms |
