Hello all,
Got stuck this side of the Thames the other day, as the police had shut down the QE2 Bridge and the tunnels both directions(apparently terrorist threat), so after threading my way through traffic for over 13 miles tailing back, my fan had been going for quite a while and the temp gauge was 3/4 up...not good. On top of that a strange rattling started coming from the engine(well it seemed to be the engine) at low speeds, any ideas! |

The other thing to check is the three little sliders which are also plastic.
You may have melted your rollers and sliders a bit.
Your fan should keep the scoot at the normal temp so that's a little worrying too, check your coolent isn't just water and the level is right.
Wouldn't do any harm to have it flushed with fresh coolent anyway every couple of years if not yearly.
What about now is the rattle gone when cold?
Wanna come up for a right good servicing?

I completely flushed through the coolant about three months ago, so it should be fine, and I generally check the oil and coolant just before I set off for a rally, which is weekly at the mo!
I have a nasty feeling it could be the rollers and sliders as I have done shite loads of miles since January The rattle has now gone when cold!
Hmmm, I had it serviced only four months ago, maybe a right good servicing is what I need!! |

whats the temp gauge doing???????
if it's going up more than it normally does it could be the water pump bearing or impeller failing........ _________________

Took the scoot to one of the local dealers and after a quick look and few questions like does the engine temperature rise answer NO, Oil light come on answer NO was then told it was Drive Belt rattle?? and not to worry about it ,i'm still not convinced but will run it and if it gets worse will take it to the other local dealer. _________________ Whats a Clutch !!!! |

I'm with Maver here.....sounds suspiciously like a water pump.
Keep an eye on the temp guage and for leaks |
