I have had my variator come loose, and do some damage to the inside of the transmission cover. It could have been a hell of a lot worse.
So make sure that that nut is extremely tight. The clutch one is not so critical, and a normal spanner and loctite should be fine.
When it came loose, it felt as if the belt was slipping, and I just rode the scoot home very gently.

My friend use mixed weights on his scoot to do the endurance racing up to six hours in the moped mayhem series and he agrres with me regarding the mixing of weights.
So this shite about one wearing quicker than the other does not hold a good argument as you change them frequently on your service scedhule. |
Mixing weights is a bodge, no two ways about it.
Any thinking man could come to the same conclusion.
Just because they can last 6 hours in a race scoot does not mean it's gonna be good in a road scoot.
How many rally's can you get to in six hours.
Do you wanna spend all your life changing rollers.
And why not just get the right weight in the first place.
Rollers can be lightened easily, we did it for years before more diverse weights became available.
THEY ALL NEED TO BE THE SAME WEIGHT OR PAY THE PRICE OF REPLACING THEM MORE OFTEN. _________________ Creator of the fastest VESPA GTS in the world!....(until proven otherwise!) |
