Sorry it's not a GTS, a humble GT 210 but I have been trying to solve this for about a week and a half now:
My air filter is filling with engine oil and clogging, loads of the stuff and it does it quite quickly too, both sight bubbles full and half the airbox, I have tried loads but now I am well and truly stumped.
Has anyone got any ideas or had siiliar problem?
Thanks. |

The oil level is fine, probably a bit low at the mo given the amount it is chucking into the air filter, I reckon about half a pint on a 10m journey.
I thought that the piston rings might have gone and blow by was pressurising the crankcase but a new Malossi kit disproves that. I have changed all service items but I think these are unrelated, just due. (Oil + air filters, rollers, belt, plug etc..).
I thought that maybe the one way valve thing in the sump might be jammed shut but I had a goosey today and it is fine...the oil pump drive chain seems quite a loose fit, are they like that?
I have ordered one of the black things off the rocker cover where the breather attaches to but looking at mine it is just a piece of plastic.
I am gettin a bit down about it now, did not think a 2 yr old modern scoot would cause me this much grief!!
Anyways, thanks for your help. |

I've been going through a little bit of oil in my GTS and have noticed the back bubble has been collecting some darker oil than usual. This happens during extended high speed riding and I have to add about 100 ml every 400 miles or so. I have noticed some oil seepage at the joints on the pipe that goes from the breather to the air box.

Thats it exctly, well it started with a small bit in the back bubble but over a couple of weeks its got much worse. For the last month I have been doing a 60 mile return journey to work all flat out I thought it should be able to cope with that.
Unfortunately if my experience is anything to go by your problem is going to get worse too. Hope somebody has got an answer, nobody I have spoken to has a clue. |

Just a quick question, has this problem started before or after the 210 kit was fitted? _________________ SP4Y www.scooterparts4you.co.uk SP4Y |

The problem started before, about 4 weeks ago and has gradually got worse, as I said I thought it might be worn rings so I put on the Malossi kit. I think I am going to have to strip the engine down completely to have a look, I will let you know what the score is when I find a solution! Thanks |

I think I have sorted this now, the rings on the old piston were worn and that was pressurising the crankcase. When I fitted the Malossi top end I really should have put a new filter in, it was new the day before but that was enough to block it....so the carb sucks and if the filter is oiled up enough it can suck from the breather. (so I am told).
So I have done about 300 miles this week and all seems fine, was not too chuffed with the performance at first but that seems to be improving and the real gains will be when I let it breathe better!! |
