Has anyone come across this problem where petrol keeps leaking over the exhaust when riding. I have read earlier discussions about over filling which happened the first time. I have filled the scoot up 3 times now (only 4 wks old) and now stop when the pump clicks off. When you take out the compartment under the saddle, you can see that petrol has leaked down the inside of the tank. The screw top seems tight but but is definately showing signs of spilling from there. The 2 pipes coming off it also appear to be o.k and not loose. The smell off petrol fumes is really strong. When I open the garage door, the smell of fumes is really overpowering. There is a constant patch on the floor. If I go out for a ride, it's still leaking everywhere regardless of how much petrol is in the tank. Any idea's anyone ? |

The scoot went back Sat and they still have it (AMS Tewkesbury, Glos). They say it is down to leaking o-rings on the pump which they have ordered. My question for Russ is, have you heard of many tanks that leak and how difficult is it to get out.
Cheers

Not on a GTS no.
But the GT200 had an issue with tanks splitting and a new part number for the tank is available.
The GTS uses a completely different tank for the injection system.
It shouldn't be long before you get it back. _________________ Creator of the fastest VESPA GTS in the world!....(until proven otherwise!) |

It's Back..............hoorayyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The mechanic showed me the plastic swarf like debris trapped around the o - rings on the pump. He blamed it on a Friday afternoon production. He's Never seen anything like it before, just been unlucky I guess. Top man Russ - great advice. I will visit your place in the future. Thanks again mate. |
