Just wondered - my scoot takes a lot longer to start than my old et4 - press the starter button and it takes well over ten seconds of high pitched starter motor before it really kicks in to idle. I was told by the dealer that this is normal as the computer waits for the engine to turn over three times
How long does your Gts take to start? Should I be exploiting my warranty? |

mine starts pretty instantly - your dealer is surely taking the piss, if you have another piaggio dealer nearby I'd get a second opinion if the first wont budge, then complain to piaggio direct about your first dealer |

The gts will want to know where it is so will turn over a few times before firing up but 10 seconds is way too long.
The scoot can sense which is the compresion stroke so when we time up the cam chain we don't have to worry about being 180 degrees out.
It is true I swear. _________________ Creator of the fastest VESPA GTS in the world!....(until proven otherwise!) |

Thanks for that folks - my worst suspicions confirmed! It went in today and they want to keep it overnight so they can start it cold. I'll keep you posted as to the bullsh**ometer readings when they give it back.
The engine also whines intermittently when sitting at idle so I'm hoping they pick up on that one too.
Trust me to pick a dud! |

As an update - they fiddled with the carburettor and it now starts in around 5-6 seconds (if I'm lucky) the squeak from the engine is an engine mount bolt that is a known Piaggio fault and will have to be rebooked.
Back to the drawing board! |

So when they say they have adjusted the carb they're talking s**t? Another case of a punter being treated like a mug - If I was any good at mechanics... |
