Other than dropping in the 250 engine what upgrades - if any - are there for this little guy? Ideally I'm really just after an acceleration upgrade but I'll take what I can get!!!

If the engine is the sanme as the GT125, then you can go wild with a Malossi 210cc cylinder kit, which in turn will need a gear-up kit.
Otherwise I recommend a J.Costa variator.

Sounds like Mr J. Costa has all the answers. Unfortunately I have no idea what a variator is much less what it does, what it costs etc. If an average punter like me wanted to fit one of these what course of action would you advise? The big question I suppose is what would I really be getting for my money?

Sorry to Hijack this post but you guys who have the costa variators, did you change from standard or have you tried other after market variators.
I've tried both Malossi and Polini and both were a huge improvement on standard, just wondering what you are comparing it to ?
As for the 125 upgrade, the 210 kit and gear up kit work very well and if you put a 140 rear tyre on it it will max out at 89mph on the dyno. As proved by one of our club at the Scorpion open day, He won fastest vespa and auto. Trophy and new Scorop. Beat all the GTS's .............Din't put mine on tho _________________

in my opinion i'd sell it as std and buy a 250.....
it has good value as an untampered with learner legal 125 whereas if you 210 it............
nice 250 for sale here (nothing to do with me)

I have upgraded my 125 with the following:
Malossi 210
Polini Varator
Upgear kit
Iridium plug
Kevlar belt
lots of other little bits...
I am not that impressed yet..BUT I am chasing a fault, when it was standard I lost power on top end, maybe 10 mph so rather than paying a main dealer who would probs sort this straight away, I thought I would do it my way!!!
I do have some things yet to do and hopefully they will catch the fault, got a 34mm CVK and I still need to change the pipe, oh and a new SAS valve. Once I have finished I think it will still need setting up by somebody with the correct tools (I have most tools but exhaust gas analyser is beyond me).
I now get 75mph (indicated) top end. As standard it was 70mph until it started running badly and went down to 60mph. I think once I complete I may get around 85mph indicated which is fine by me
At the mo the scooter does have a lot more torque, a local steep hill used to see me down to 45mph now I go up at 65mph.
I will let you know once I have finished what the final results are,..... |
