Does the solenoid make a noise like its trying to open??
If so check its cable is connected to the lock.
If not then check power supply to the solenoid. |

No,it doesn't make any noise at all.
How do I get to the solenoid ?
Have to have another look at it tommorow.
Cheers for that Mav,looks like a good place to start. We shall see! _________________ Darren |

If its not making a noise its either an electrical issue... or solenoid failure.
First thing to check is the switch itself as they are common... remove the small panel to the left on the upper leg shield, put your hand in and pull off the wiring from the switch. If you have a spare switch then plug that in and try it. If you dont have a spare then use a split pin or similar metal object to short the 2 wiring connections together. If it works then the switch is faulty.... you can pop them apart and clean the contacts but the corrosion thats already happened will have shortened the lifespan, so for the few quid a new one costs just replace it... but before you do put some grease in there, and on the wiring plug end so water cant get back in there and do it again!
If it didnt work doing the above, then you need to be checking the power supply with a multimeter at the solenoid... its mounted up under the LH rear side panel and needs to be unbolted from inside the seat tub and dropped down... unplug it and test the wiring for 12v when you press the button to operate it.
No voltage means wiring fault somewhere.
Voltage means the solenoid has packed up, not very common but you do get the odd one or two. |
