Yes the std belt is better anyway, it lasts longer than the malossi X belt. _________________

I am with you on that Phil. I have said Polini for years.
After testing both Malossi and Polini on my Gielra Runner years back. The Polini rocks!

I was just coming on here to post this very question! So with the polini variator (compare to the stock) am i right in thinking that off the line is quicker but top speed drops a little? |

Just to put a spanner in the works....... No Pun
I have got the Malossi fitted with 13grm Rollers and notice a big difference......
It is better off the mark and also picks up better between 20mph and 60mph.......
I must also say leave the belt alone it is not worth swoping.......
Regards Mark... (Barber) |

You can't just fit the Malossi. The weights supplied are too heavy for good take-off. And you also need to change the contra-spring in the clutch to go with it.

got the costa first which was doing a good job till 100 km/h!
as i am living in the netherlands now and i have to use the highways now i replaced it for a polini loosing a little bit of power till 90 km/h but now i got rid of the break-in around 100!
the loss of max. power is around 0.6 hp!
if you are just around town i would go for a costa! |

Yes Mark you are right about the malossi, it is an improvement on the std. but i've had both and the polini is better all round. As for top end speed i've found the polini has slightly better and the costa is too expensive. _________________

The costa is only about £160 delivered from scootertrap, which is £50 more than a polini...
It is definitely £50 better.... |

Well according to scootering latest issue, where if you have'nt seen it, they do a dyno comparison on variators the price of the polini is £82.60 now that may be plus vat because its a PM tuning price and they are usually plus vat, but that is still less than a ton and the results show the polini to be best overall. Now I don't believe everything I read in scootering but study the dyno printouts and see for yourself. _________________
