I did see you had tried to solder them mav, and yes they are a pain to do.. i use a gas soldering iron as it gives lots of heat very quickly so it doesnt get a chance to spead to much and they solder up fine...
...but the connectors will be fine, just keep an eye on them from time to time as any connector can suffer the same fate... they have 450-550W and about 150-300v AC running though them at times hence the major destruction when they fail |

Do this folks, it's only a couple of quid, and it would have saved me hours and hours of trekking around Doncaster on a Sunday afternoon trying to find a spare one! Then bodging it with a coat hanger that I found at the side of the A1! _________________
