Bought my 2nd hand gts 250 - it's now just under a year old and has done 4k miles or so.
Had a service the other day and reported the problem it has which was when accelerating from stationary it judders slightly. Sounded like the clutch not engaging 100%. Not a huge problem but noticeable. The garage told me it was a problem with the material Piaggio make the cutch with (or part of it). Something about it smoothing out too easily or something. Anyway, they said they took it apart and did something to it to fix the problem. This was done on warranty so no charge to myself.
It did make a difference but now, less than 200 miles later it has reappeared.
Any advice on what I should do - back to the garage (only about 1 month left on my warranty) or is this just a design fault I'll have to get used to? |

The 250 isn't a big juddering machine but all autos do have it a little bit, especially on a hot engine, the master engine does it loads and really bugs me. Get someone else to ride it with one and see if its a problem or you just not used to it?
Chances are they just deglazed the clutch shoes which helped it, but they are smoothening off again by now. |

That's what they said - deglazed the blighters.
The problem is def back though. I'll give them a buzz and see if they're do it again or take another look. The bike was bought in june 2007 so I'm hoping I may have that 2 year warranty that I've heard about as opposed to the 1 year. |

I just changed the belt and rollers on my GTS. I noticed that on the inside of the clutch bell some scuffs. After I put everything back together within 300 miles my clutch started making a squeak when I take off. Pulled it back down and notices additional scuffs on the inside of the bell. Then I noticed the sharp corners on the clutch pad material. Took a file and broke the sharp corner and actually beveled the edge of both leading and trailing edge of the pad material. A quick scuffing of the face of the pads with emerycloth to deglaze the surface of the pad and the inside of the bell and presto no noise. Perhaps this will work for you _________________ When the world comes to an end, I want to be in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, because everything there happens "Ten Years Later" GO XYL's |

sounds like the clutch shudder.
its a build up of clutch dust on the clutch bell that causes it and/or the clutch bell being knackerd.
just get the bell replaced on warranty. _________________ revolution deathsquad! |

I'm now starting to get some groaning when pulling away from stationary. Mostly when two people are on the bike and we've been doing a lot of stop starting (morning central London traffic)....
Normal? Should I worry...? |

Yeah just sounds like a clutch is getting a little used and needing a service. |
