Wow, that means I can claim to have overtook a 100 on the speedo GTS, Allthough it was with the aid of a wind assisted slingshot off an artic lorry. _________________

ha ha fucking ha! Russ, I've lost weight since I started, hard to believe but true!
Well I'm having a PM box dyno'd in on Friday, to see what that does.
I won't have time to fit a standard belt before it goes on the dyno.
I'll see what difference the standard belt makes when I stick it on, and depending on that, it's off to PSN to have a few hours dyno time, playing about with rollers and contra-springs. _________________

Let me know the results, I do doubt the PM box will even register the difference on the dyno, the only improvement would be at nearly closed throttle settings where our graph showed a little wobblyness on the mixture.
Make sure he does a run right at the end without the PM box, so as it's proved to you that you wasted your money on it after I took all that time modifying the fuel injection system to run without one.
You don't need to fit the belt before the dyno as he's gonna be mucking about in there to do rollers he can chuck it on while he's in there.
Anyway Chris, When I get my GTS it will be faster, No I'll come out and say it, THE FASTEST ONE.
Good luck anyways. _________________ Creator of the fastest VESPA GTS in the world!....(until proven otherwise!) |

Russ, are you going to use the GTS barrel....or a different one?
The PM box hasn't been tried yet, and if I don't try it, I never know what benefits (if any) it may have. I got the box cheap thanks to BuddyPhil, so it's no great loss if the difference is minimal.
I shall be uprating the braking system soon though. I've got myself a Ducati 916 Caliper _________________

Well I've just come back from the Dyno, after having the PM box dialled in.
The initial run produced 19.04 bhp, and showed that the scoot was running lean low end, and very rich top end.
After the box had been set up correctly, it ran 20.52 bhp and the mixure was near spot on. Still burbles and pops on overrun though! _________________

Cool! Well worth a trip then, He did clean out the throttle body before he started I hope, as this could explain the richness up top maybe.
If not then make sure it's cleaned next time.
As for the 300, Well unless they are throwing the head in the bin and completely redesigning it then they are just robbing you of your hard earned for the sake of a 300 badge.
I don't see much hp or torque gain from upping the cc alone.
Well as I don't see any other GTS making 20bhp+ So I reckon I still am the creator of the fastest GTS so far, even though Andy did the final set up.
Without the fuel system mods the PM box would not be able to get the mixture rich enough as other folks max it out without the level of tuning you have on your scoot.
Chris I have an idea, I think we may have spoke about it once before.
It's cheap and easy to do and nobody will catch you or overtake you on any other GTS with or without 100mph lorries to slipstream!
PM me if interested. _________________ Creator of the fastest VESPA GTS in the world!....(until proven otherwise!) |
